Just discovered Simon Brett. Writing in a similar style to P.G. Wodehouse and Agatha Christie. Good fun and light hearted crime novel. The book I'm reading at the moment is called Blotto, Twinks and the ex-king's daughter.
The book begins with a body in the library. Looking forward to seeing how Blotto and Twinks solve the crime.
I've not come across Simon Brett, but I enjoy reading Wodehouse and Christie, so will definitely look him up.
ReplyDeleteThere's stacks of his books in the library Patsy, I go in there every week so that it won't close down. (That's my plan anyway)
ReplyDeleteI love his stories too. Some of his book have become plays on Radio Four. Did you know he play the part of Marvin the depressed robot in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy a science fiction comedy series created by Douglas Adams.
ReplyDeleteWas at a conference where he did his crime in verse story and it was brilliant!
ReplyDeleteHi Jarmara,
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard any of his radio plays, how lovely. Must look out for those. Didn't know about the hitchhiker connection either. You learn something new every day don't you?
Hi Rosemary,
ReplyDeleteThe verse story sounds like crazy fun. I'm thoroughly enjoying the book so far. Seriously silly, but absolutely my cup of tea.
Simon Brett is one of my favourite authors. Have a listen to him reading his books on audio - very funny.
ReplyDeleteHi Maureen,
ReplyDeleteWill have a look out for them. I find myself laughing out loud as I read the chapters, and I'm only on chapter three.
